Edgemont Junior/Senior High School, located in Scarsdale, New York, is a continually evolving seventh through twelfth-grade public school enrolling a culturally diverse student body hailing from over forty countries. Historically speaking, Edgemont refers only to our school district, which is located in an unincorporated section of the Town of Greenburgh. Families from around the world have come to our small close-knit community to have their children benefit from a strong public education. But, you may ask, what defines a strong public education? In my eyes, the strong public education we offer values students’ individuality and creativity and strives to develop them into globally-aware young adults. Our talented faculty and staff achieve this through the learning relationships they create with our students, through our course offerings, and through our continual focus on finding the right balance for each student. Lastly, an overarching principle requisite to the success of our students is the inherent partnership between the Edgemont community and our school.
In an age with continuing demands for the measurement of education, much of it ill-informed, poorly-implemented, and myopic, the faculty at Edgemont Junior/Senior High School have continued a long-standing philosophy of evaluating student success with a focus on the individual. As the world is changing and becoming smaller, we are obligated to continually revisit and evaluate the metrics of our success while maintaining a focus on guiding each of our students in his or her academic, social, and emotional spheres. The seventh-through-twelfth grade structure of our school lends a dynamic of community and cooperation that enables us to meet such challenges directly.
Please feel free to contact me should you have questions about our programs or goals. I look forward to meeting you, sharing our school’s offerings, and discussing aspects of our school that may be valuable to you and your child.
